Our chapter-wide Thanksgiving activity was held at the Best Choice Center on Sunday, 11/24/19 from 2pm-4pm. As we entered into the holiday season, the Winston-Salem Chapter of Jack and Jill gave thanks by giving back to others in the Winston-Salem area! The Programming Committee continued our chapter's commitment to the Best Choice Center.
This year we expanded our tradition of giving Thanksgiving meals to help those in need. We increased the amount food in their boxes, completed some much needed repairs around the facility and assembled bookshelves. Our chapter enjoys working with community partners to allow for the strengthening of its people.
We shared by providing not only the meals, but a fun environment for all who attended. The age groups participated as follows: Tots – made cards to include in our food boxes; Playmates – made crafts with the children who came to the center; Lads and Lassies - packed the boxes; Jr. Teens - Read to families and children - helped with the cards and crafts for Tots and Playmates; Sr. Teens & Dads - helped load baskets into the vehicles; provided small repairs around the facility; organize books and built and assembled bookshelves.
Families also brought a book to donate and also at least one box for food. We met our goal of not only providing a Thanksgiving meal but an additional meal that families could use another day. Thank you to all who participated! We look forward to working with you next year!
