Our chapter adopted Family Services Head Start Center for our Holiday community service focus. We prepared Thanksgiving Boxes containing items to assist families in having a good, hearty Thanksgiving meal.
This Service Project is a full chapter effort. Children from each age group, along with mothers and fathers will meet at the Family Services Center on Big House Gaines Blvd in Winston-Salem. Together, we will pack the Thanksgiving boxes. Adults and children of all ages are able to participate in sorting the food items, filling and counting the boxes, and delivering them to the families. From this activity our children are exposed to another opportunity to experience giving back to the community and sharing with others.
During previous years, the age groups each decided to plan “wrap-around” service projects to further support the families of Family Services or the organization as a whole. The Tots group collaborate on pieces of art that were donated to Family Services for display in their building. The Playmates donated age-appropriate books to the families, The Lads and Lassies donated Christmas gifts and the Junior Teens will give hats and scarves to give to the children of these same families. In addition, the Junior Teens collected winter coats to be given to the Administrators and Staff at Family Services so they can give to the families who need them. We truly believe that by concentrating our efforts this month on this organization and the families we know are in need, we are optimizing the impact we can have and showing our children how wonderful it is when they give to others in so many different ways.
A nonprofit is as strong as the community that holds it up. Together, we can do more than we can do alone. Let's bring our abilities and passions together to affect real change.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
